So I thought it'd be nice to take a break from what I have been working on to update my friends on what's been going on in my life. Exciting, right?!
Don't worry this won't be a deep reflective post or overly emotional. It is actually all positive and insanely awesome stuff! Anyways, most of you are aware from my more recent entries that I have been making changes in my life. Well after dropping some groups and taking some time to really think about my goals from a fresh perspective I did something amazing. I decided to sign up for art classes! Yeah, it is true I am a doctorate student already and this will mean I will be in studying pretty much 24.7. Did I consider this before I signed up for the classes? Of course! I thought about the workload a lot because on top of being a doctorate student I do work full time. However, I recently participated in the Advanced Lighting Workshop hosted by %CRPhotomanipulation
with the guest speaker being ~DarkRayne
and realized I need/desire professional art direction. There are just so many things I want to learn and despite reading free tutorials on deviantART and various sites on the web ... I would like to have an instructor to interact with. Plus, I think the classes will help speed up the process of what I want to learn because the classes are structured and build on each other. Overall, this decision was not taken lightly and ultimately was the right choice for me at this point in my life. So I hope you all will support my decision.
So what does this mean for me on deviantART? Well, I will still be just as active as before the only thing that will change is how often I upload artwork. In the past, I would upload deviations sometimes two times a week. This will no longer be possible as I am not a sweat shop worker. Plus, I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. Another thing I want to discuss is with these classes I will be experimenting with a lot of new things while I am learning. Thus, my newer works will most likely be quite different than what you are used to seeing from me. Hell, I hope they will instantly be better but we all know learning is a process and everyone learns at their own speed. So if you see something new from me and it looks nothing like something I'd make just bare with me while I figure things out... lol. Also, when I brought this idea up to my boyfriend he asked... "Are you going to quit photo-manipulation?" I will NOT be quitting photo-manipulation. However, I will be learning and moving towards digital painting. Basically, when all is said and done I will be creating both photo-manipulations and digital paintings. However, the dream of digital painting is based on a long-term goal and I do not expect to be uploading digital paintings in the near future. Well, at least not until I feel comfortable showing off my paintings. So now you know the big news that I have been holding onto for the last couple of days... I look forward to seeing how these classes will impact my art and sharing my journey with everyone.
P.S. As I go through these classes I will be preparing tutorials for everyone here on deviantART so you can learn for FREE what I paid someone to teach me
P.S.S. All my NEW works will have requests for critiques on them (please be gentle but honest)!
Well... that's all folks! Hope you all have a great weekend! Don't forget the 23rd of March Alpha Testers will be announced by %devBUG
& remember... you can choose to be an obstacle or a motivating force when deciding to walk the path towards artistic growth.
